Student Address Guide
Understand which address types you need and how Mississippi College uses them.
Address Types
Emergency Contact
This is the person ±«Óătvwill contact in an emergency. Keep this information up to date.
Permanent or Residency Address
- Your legal residence when ±«Óătvis not in session.
- No PO Boxes allowed for this address type.
- International students: use your home-country address.
- Law students: use your home address.
Mailing Address
Where you want ±«Óătvmail sent if different from your Permanent/Residency address.
Local Address
- Where you live during the academic term (if different from your permanent address).
- Required for international students not living on campus.
- Do not use residence hall addresses for Local.
Billing Address
Where your bills should be mailed if not using your Mailing or Permanent address.
±«ÓătvCampus Box
Your on-campus mail stop (used for students assigned a campus mailbox).
How We Use Your Addresses
For Billing
Order used: Billing → Mailing → Local → Permanent
For General Mail & Communications
Order used: Mailing → Local → Permanent
For Mail Forwarding
Order used: Mailing → Permanent
When and What to Update
Before each registration period, review and update the following in your student profile:
- Permanent/Residency, Mailing, Local, and Billing addresses
- Emergency contact information
- Phone number and personal email address
- Church of attendance (if requested)
Examples
- I live on campus.
- Keep your Permanent/Residency address current and use a Mailing address if you want mail sent elsewhere. Your ±«ÓătvCampus Box handles on-campus mail.
- I rent an apartment during the semester.
- That’s your Local address. Keep your Permanent/Residency address as your legal residence.
- I want all mail to go to my apartment.
- Set your Mailing address to your apartment and keep your Permanent/Residency address as your legal residence.
- I’m an international student living off campus.
- Local is required for your current local residence. Permanent/Residency must be your home-country address.
- I only have a PO Box.
- You can use a PO Box for Mailing or Billing, but not for your Permanent/Residency address.
